must-have kids travel gadgets

traveling with little ones is tough. since moving to Colorado, we’ve gone on lotsss of flights and long car trips. most recently, we flew down south for my sister’s wedding. not only did we have two flights, but we had delays, multiple long (and cramped) car rides, and while the girls were total troopers, I couldn’t help but think about how I could make our travel days a little less stressful and a lot more organized. so I came up with a list of things I wanted before our next flight in a few weeks.

my thought process was:

1) I want it to be minimal because somehow no matter HOW big my carry-on bag is, it is always stuffed to the brim and SO heavy.
2) Reusable so I can keep these items in a bag and pull them out before every trip.
3) Somewhat cute…cuz duh.

I’ve already ordered a few of these items, and I feel like they’re going to be game-changers for our long travel days ahead.

here are my must-have travel essentials for toddlers and young kiddos!

  • dry erase travel pack: both of my girls love to draw and color! but carrying paper, coloring books, crayons, markers, etc…no thanks. I felt this would be a simple and minimal way to let them draw and color without the hassle of carrying around a separate suitcase for art supplies. plus, if you haven’t already experienced this phenomenon…kids love dry erase.

  • headphones with a share port: guys this is GENIUS. why didn’t I know about this before? on long trips, we’ll set the iPad up in our car for the girls to watch a movie. which is great except that CINDERLLYYYYYYY is blaring in my ears while I drive. same with airplanes — we’re either breaking up fistfights about who gets to use the iPad or we’re playing the Lorax so loud the whole plane can hear it. problem solved! these are going to be a game changer.

  • cupholder travel tray: who doesn’t love a good happy meal on a road trip?! except for the chaos of them trying to eat a meal with ketchup and ranch and whooo knows what else makes me wanna scream. cupholder travel tray = no more balancing ketchup acts. pop that sucker in your car seat cupholder and praise the name of the Lord our God.

  • collapsible water bottle: listennnn, I love the Stanley water bottles just as much as the next suburban mom, but toting those bad boys around the airport ain’t gonna cut it for me anymore. I got two collapsible water bottles that I can fill when the girls need them and collapse into tiny, angel, bottles that will be so light and minimal in my bag, I won’t feel like my back is broken by the end of the day.

  • snack dispenser: again, this is all about saving space. having 19 different half-eaten bags of fruit snacks and trail mix in my backpack annoys me. it just does. this can also be used for formula, which is a genius idea!

  • drawing book: nothing occupies my 4-year-old these days quite like learning how to draw something new. This would pair perfectly well with the dry-erase travel pack!

  • flexi phone & tablet holder: guys you can make this thing work anywhere! airplane, car, desk, you name it. plus it flattens completely so you can slide it right into your backpack.
