teething is such a pain…literally (pretty sure no one has ever made that joke before) 😬 with our first, Margot, teething was never a thing. she would wake up one morning, have a new tooth and I’d be like okay — cool! little miss Harper is a different story. when she’s teething, the whole world knows. every classic symptom — irritability, drooling, runny nose, low-grade fever, stomach upset, gnawing on everything in sight — she has it. I had to figure out quickly how we were gonna manage her terrible teething and I’ve found the perfect (nontoxic) combo that I *obviously* have to tell you about!

i’m gonna share three products and then explain how we use them together:

1) boiron’s camilia teething relief — these are our favorite! they’re homeopathic, pre-dosed, and made with German chamomile — which relieves teething pain accompanied by irritability, pokeweed — relieves red swollen gums with pain radiating to the ears, and Chinese rhubarb — which relieves minor digestive disorders associated with baby teething

2) hyland baby oral pain relief — these homeopathic pills (I know — pills for babies…sounds weird but they dissolve in like .5 seconds) anyways, they have chamomile like the other but they also have Arnica which is known to heal irritability, sore & swelling gums, colic pain, restlessness, and occasional sleeplessness!

3) copaiba oil — guys this one is KEY. I take the cap off, put my finger over the dropper, turn the bottle upside down for a second and then rub what comes out on my fingers directly onto Harper’s gums. it provides nearly instant relief! seriously — try it on yourself — you’ll feel a tingling and numbing sensation within seconds!

copaiba has been used for pain relief for hundreds of years! it is an anti-inflammatory and analgesic because it contains high amounts of beta-caryophyllene, which interacts with cannabinoid receptors (CB2 receptors) on the skin. this can help decrease pain and is also how CBD works!

** disclaimer — if you plan to use this on your teething little one, I would absolutely never use any other brand of oil besides young living. you do not want to risk your baby ingesting crappy, toxic, poorly sourced essential oils. if you wanna know more about why we choose to use young living, read this.

okay, so here’s how we apply. when she’s teething really badly we switch between the camilia and the hyland pills every 1-2 hours! but heads-up, the hyland pills are a bit of a commitment (2 pills every 15 minutes for an hour and then hourly after that) so sometimes I just stick with the camilia. anyways — each time we give her one of those, we also apply copaiba on the irritated gums. copaiba provides the instant relief to take the edge off while the other remedies work through her body and start doing their thing. the short game and the long game are both covered, and it leaves us with a happy, toothy, and very relieved baby girl!

that’s it! so quick, affordable, nontoxic…and it works! let me know if you try it!
