my fave guest room items

Guys, I love prepping our house for guests! Growing up I watched my mom go above and beyond to make sure our house was clean and welcoming for anyone staying with us. And since Adam’s in the army and we often live far away from family & friends, we have a lot of visitors!

When we were looking for a house here in Colorado, my #1 requirement was that we had a designated guest room. Not a half office, half nursery, half guest room — a REAL guest room. We’ll, we got one, and I have absolutely loved making this room a cozy sanctuary for the many, many guests who have come to visit us so far!

Idk if I’m just getting old, but I’m pretty dang picky about my sleeping situation and I like for our guests to have literally anything they could possibly need available to them in their guest room and bathroom!

Here’s a list of my non-negotiable guest room items! all from Amazon, and all budget friendly (duh!)

  1. small fan - ever since I married my husband (a fan fanatic) it is really hard for me to sleep without a fan. I bring this one with my when I travel, keep it on my nightstand at home, and keep one in our guest room. It’s small, but mighty. three different speeds, and super cute!

  2. sound machine - having babies turned me into a sound machine lover. I cannot sleep without white noise! we have two hatch sound machines in our house, and I recently discovered the hatch mini! it’s exactly like the normal hatch, just smaller. it’s still super loud with lots of sound options, but more portable. perfect for a small guest room.

  3. chapstick - Colorado is DRY. someone gave me the idea to gift my guests chapstick…genius. who doesn’t love a good chapstick?!

  4. slippers - okay maybe this is too much but slippers add the ultimate cozy factor! I stayed in my friend’s guest room one night and she kept slippers in there. I was instantly inspired (and wore them all night 😂)

  5. fancy body wash - guys this brand is my fave! I’ve been using their body wash and santal deodorant for several months now. the body wash is such an elevated and delicious smell. your guests will feel so spoiled!

  6. cozy throw blankets - our guest room is in the basement which can get pretty chilly. This blanket from Amazon is so soft & warm. I keep a few in a basket by the room if they get chilly!

  7. flowers - I always buy fresh flowers when guests come, but I’ve seen people talking about these faux tulips on Instagram and they look sooo pretty and real. a pretty little addition to your guest room.

  8. phone chargers - one of my biggest pet peeves is remembering where I packed my charger, digging it out of my suitcase, and plugging it in before going to bed. so I keep a few chargers in our guest room! and I make SURE they’re the 10 foot ones because ain’t nobody got time for short charging cords.

  9. good pillows - I am pickyyy about my pillows and I always like to make sure our guests have a variety of options. super soft + flat, poofy and firm, and somewhere in the middle. I absolutely love these pillows from Amazon! I originally ordered them for our guest room but ended up stealing them to sleep on myself. I recently ordered more for our guests — they’re the perfect mix of fluffy and firm. A middle ground that seems to work for most people!

  10. treat basket - I always buy a variety of treats specific to whoever is coming! candies, chips, drinks, etc. And I love to put them in a little woven basket as a fun way of making our guests feel welcomed and loved 🥰
